"The Avengers": Enter The 'Black Widow'
Sneak Peek a clip of actress Scarlett Johansson, starring as 'Natasha Romanoff', aka the 'Black Widow' in Marvel's "The Avengers"....
The character adapts the Russian-born, Marvel Comics' superhero, debuting in "Tales of Suspense" #52 (April 1964), as a 'supervillain'.
Orphaned as a child after being rescued from a burning building by Soviet soldier 'Ivan', Natasha grew up under his protection before attracting the attention of Soviet intelligence and the start of her covert training.
Eventually she was recruited to become part of the 'Black Widow Program' team of elite female sleeper agents.
While Natasha studied as a ballerina to cover her true occupation, the Soviet state arranged for her to marry 'Alexi Shostakov', a champion test pilot. After a few years of marriage, the 'KGB' faked Shostakov’s death in a rocket test. Grief-stricken Natasha devoted herself to continue training with the 'Red Room Academy' and was finally awarded the title, 'Black Widow'.
In The US, after being coerced into fighting the 'Avengers', she returned to Russia with a vengeance, severing all ties with her former superiors.
Living in the US, Natasha divides her time between freelance work for 'Nick Fury' of 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' and participation in Avengers missions.
