"Thor 2": Enter 'Sif'
Actress Jaimie Alexander, who played Norse warrior goddess 'Sif' in the 2011 feature "Thor", will return as Sif for "Thor 2", in a 3D comic book adaptation that intends to have a more 'Viking' influence than the first film.
'Sif' is the character appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics, based on the mythological Norse goddess of the same name, debuting in Marvel's "Journey Into Mystery" #102 (1964), as an 'Asgardian' warrior and lover of 'Thor', who spends much of her time worrying about him and accompanying him into battle.
Alexander confirmed that she will return as the character for director Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones") looking to have Sif's romance with Thor rekindled.
"Thor 2" is being produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, as the eighth installment in the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe'.
Screenplay is by Don Payne and Robert Rodat, with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and Idris Elba reprising their roles from the first film.
"I think of big waterfalls and mountains and a Viking influence, where the Norse mythology kind of grew from," said 'Thor' actor Hemsworth about "Thor 2". "Having that in Asgard is going to make it all the more special and that's what Alan (Taylor) wants to bring to it."
