Rosario Dawson Leads The "O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce"

Producer Gale Ann Hurd continues to develop a TV pilot, written by Jorge Zamacona ("Third Watch"), adapting Image Comics' "O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce", created by Rosario Dawson, writer David Atchison and illustrator Tony Shasteen.

Dawson ("Sin City") will take on the lead role of 'Investigator Sophia Ortiz', alongside characters 'Detective Aaron Cain', 'Detective Mucilinda', 'Detective Jack Faust', 'Detective Annis Lythe', 'Investigator Robert Dospil' and 'Sergeant Jim "Grim" Mettler'.

The original, 4-issue comic book mini-series, debuted in "O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce Heroes Con Preview" #1, published June 2006 by 12 Gauge Comics. "O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce" #1 debuted July 2006 after a move to Image Comics :

"...there is an old and forgotten resolution in the recesses of the City of New York's 'Annotated Code of Ordinances', mandating the creation of a taskforce in the Manhattan Police Department specifically designed to deal with crimes of 'occult' origin.

"The primary mission of the OCT is to serve and protect the Manhattan populace from 'magical contaminations' of 'Rogue Ceteri' (other-dimensional creatures) and the 'Tainted', known as practitioners who exploit magic for personal gain at the expense of the citizenry.

"The OCT precinct is located near the inter-dimesional 'Extant' portal, in an area of Manhattan referred to as the 'Otherground'. Due to the Otherground’s proximity to the Extant's center, it is a haven for supernatural activity..."
